Iti s a brand new year and golf season! Perhaps you are content with your performance last year. If so, just repeat the same practice/play program you used last year and hope you get the same result. On the other hand if you would like to do better this year. Start now!
In this segment I am going to deal with the first thing you need to do. Review last years performance in detail. If you record statistics for your on course performance, review them to identify the areas for potential improvement. If you don’t keep statistics, start now! I really don’t know how a player can be sure they are using their practice time most effectively without them. Consider the system that my players use. Shot by Shot! I give two awards each year based on the Shot by Shot system. One award is for the most rounds entered, the other is for the greatest stroke reduction in handicap. For 2009, one of my Junior Golfers won both awards. She not only entered the most rounds, she reduced her handicap by six (6) strokes from 12 to 6. A coincidence you say? I don’t think so. Not keeping accurate and complete statistics on you game and just going by how you feel is a very bad way to manage your on course golf performance. It is the equivalent of running a business without ever reviewing an accurate financial statement to see how you were doing. You would be out of business pretty soon if you just went by how you feel. The same applies to your golf game. Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.
